An activity is a thing that you do, right? We think of an activity in the same way that you think of a job, in that it is something that you do for a period of time. So, you can track time spent on an activity in the same way you track job times – by creating bounded clock entries that mark the beginning and the end of the time duration.
For all practical purposes, activities and jobs are interchangeable. When you create a new “activity” however, the record is created on the same template as a job, but it has a flag, and the flag says “hey, I’m not really a job… I’m just an activity”. This is important because activity time records do not become part of your payroll reports.
This means that you can keep track of time wasted doing other important things in your life, like walking the cat, or biking, or being on Facebook.
Activity records only require a name. You can add a description if you wish.
Time well-spent!
